I’ve always been involved in some aspect of sewing, so when my sister introduced me to quilting about 20 years ago, I was ready to try it. When I actually sat down at the quilt frame and began to hand quilt, I was entranced by the rhythm and quietness of it — the meditative quality of hand quilting.
Classes with Ruth McDowell set me on the direction of art quilts. She had a big influence, showing me that I can sew anything that I can draw.
The inspiration for my quilts is usually the strong colors and bold designs of nature. In my quilts I can put them all together into original art.
